Successful Sponsored Silence
Successful Sponsored Silence

1st Stavanger guides, who meet at our school, would like to thank everyone for supporting their recent sponsored silence. They managed to stay completely silent for their 90 minute meeting and still manged to carry on doing their badge work.

They raised just over £400 for the just giving campaign helping Girlguiding Branches recover after Hurricane Irma. Four of Girlguiding's five branches in the Caribbean have been hit by Hurricane Irma, three of them directly. The levels of damage and the loss of life across the islands are unprecedented.

Many members and units of Girlguiding in Anguilla, Turks and Caicos, and the British Virgin Islands will have had their lives turned upside down, in some cases losing everything. As the islands start to recover and the humanitarian relief effort is carried out over the coming weeks and months, islanders will want to start resuming their normal lives – and this includes returning to guiding.

We are proud to say that 1st Stavanger Guides silent efforts will go to help the families of the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides affected by this disaster.
