PYP5 Making Paper
Jo Horne

PYP5 recently took part in a workshop to make recycled paper. It's a fascinating process with amazing results from used paper, water and a blender. Thanks to Den Kuturelle Skolesekken for the workshop - we're off to use our blender to make paper! #thisisBISS #BissGausel

INSET Day Mar 24
Jo Horne

Today was training day for the teachers and BISS Gausel teamed up with BISS Sentrum to collaborate across departments within the schools. There were a range of training and collaboration opportunities including online safety, digital curriculum, SEND, Norwegian, MYP assessment and moderation. The combined PYP departments also included a team-building Bake Off activity as one of their afternoon sessions - yum! #thisisBISS #BissGausel

Taking Hairy Action
Jo Horne

We love to share how proud we are when our students take action to help others. Recently, two of our students after growing their hair for two years had it cut and were able to donate 30cm of hair to Apollo Harsenter to help make wigs and hair replacements for those who need it. They've now started growing it again, ready to donate again when it's long enough! #Bissisproud #thisisBISS #BissGausel

Colourful Learning
Jo Horne

The word Chromophilia means love of colour and students in PYP2 immersed themselves in the wonderful world of colour with a visitor from the Stavanger Art Museum. They explored the colour wheel through a bag full of colours of the rainbow, fun colour experiments and some works of art. Thank you to Den Kuturelle Skolesekken for a incredibly colourful time! #thisisBISS #BissGausel

International Mother Language Day 2024
Jo Horne

Every year on February 21, International Mother Language Day is celebrated globally to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and to highlight the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages worldwide.

The PYP department celebrated today with workshops, games, stories and songs in so many different languages from our amazing BISS community. We had Norwegian, Hungarian, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, German, Romanian and Welsh to name a few.

Thank you to the parents and teachers who shared their different languages and thank you to everyone who baked and bought lots of different tasty treats to raise funds to buy books from different languages for our libraries. #ThisisBISS #BissGausel #bissisbuzzing #bissisproud
