Design A House #BISSGausel
Jo Horne

The MYP4 students were challenged to create a 3D model of a house for a client. This year, the requested designs were located in Norway, Denmark, the USA, Spain, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, and Ireland. The students developed advanced planning and technical skills by designing floor plans using Floor Plan Creator and 3D models using SketchUp.

More impressive was their ability to maintain consistent communication with their clients throughout the project as they finalised the architectural style and product specifications. They also demonstrated resilience by learning to create openings in houses, select appropriate floor and façade materials, paint walls, and animate their 3D models for the final presentations.

During the unit, students explored the hedonistic sustainability idea, popularised by the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, which makes green living fun, and the concept of fluidity and curved lines in architecture introduced by the Iraqi-born British architect Zaha Hadid! Impressive work MYP4!
