Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents

It was with great pleasure that I joined so many of you to watch our upper primary students perform 'What A Knight'. The atmosphere created and response of the audience made this a memorable occasion for all the children. We have some very talented students and they are wonderful role models to our younger students - quite inspirational.

Friskole - The Emerging Story

The application to open a Friskole has now been submitted. The outcome of the application will not be known until March 2019. Nevertheless, the development of these plans will continue throughout the intervening period in preparation for making any changes in August 2019.

What a Knight!

UPYP dazzled the audience with their performance of 'What A knight' at Sola Kulturhus on Thursday 8th of February. Friends and families thoroughly enjoyed the evening which is the culmination of several weeks of hard work across the whole UPYP department.

BISS Bullying Policy Review

The Norwegian Government has introduced (August 2017) new guidelines for dealing with incidents of bullying in schools. For the past twenty years, all British Schools have been required to have robust anti-bullying policies in place. As such, BISS has not had to radically alter its policy, but is informing parents of their additional rights and responsibilities under section 9A of the Norwegian Education Act. The revised anti-bullying policy can be found on the parent portal.

News from the Pre-School

It's been a busy time in Playgroup and Pre-School. They have been busy inside the classroom getting messy as well as exploring outside looking for signs of spring.

News from the Primary School

We have had an incredibly productive and busy year so far and, six months in, I am feeling privileged to be part of the warmth and 'magic' of BISS. The teaching staff are constantly inspiring me with new initiatives and creative ways to share best practice and to impart the love of learning into the fabric of their teaching. It is truly an honour to be working in a such a special school and I am extremely grateful for the warm welcome and support I have been provided by the staff and the parents.
