Oceans Day - Non Uniform Day

For World Ocean's Day this year we would like to mark the occasion by having a 'Big Blue Day'. On Tuesday, 8th June, we encourage all students to come to school dressed in blue or dressed as their favourite sea creature. We ask that students bring a contribution of 10kr to school (cash only please), which will be donated to the Marine Conservation Society to support the excellent work that they do.

In addition, we will be holding a schoolwide plastic-free week. From Monday, 7th June, to Friday, 11th June, we encourage our school community to think carefully about their use of single-use plastics. Let's try our best to avoid using the following for the entire week:

  1. Plastic bottles
  2. Coffee cups and lids
  3. Plastic cutlery
  4. Straws and plastic stirrers
  5. Plastic 'food-on-the-go' packaging
  6. Plastic bags
  7. Bathroom plastics (disposable razors, toothbrushes, cotton buds, shower gel etc.)
  8. Plastic drinking cups
  9. Condiment sachets

Finally, students are invited to let their creativity show in an art competition themed 'The Big Blue'. Please send a clear photograph of the artwork to Miss Mills (clare.mills@biss.no). Closing date for entries is Friday, 4th June 2021. (Categories: PYP1-3, PYP4-6, MYP.)
