Welcome to BISS Sentrum
"Fostering independence, curiosity, and responsibility is central to our caring community of lifelong learners."
Welcome to the Secondary School at BISS Sentrum, where we are committed to guiding each student in discovering and pursuing their ideal educational pathway beyond our school. Fostering independence, curiosity, and responsibility is central to our caring community of lifelong learners (students and teachers alike). We scaffold the learning and accountability based on the developmental age of our students to ensure each one gains confidence and skills to tackle any problem.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) heavily emphasises skills-based learning, which can be transferred from one subject to another and outside the classroom. By centring assessments on real-world challenges that demand the application of knowledge and skills, we equip our students for a future job market unlike today's, fostering adaptability and ensuring their success in any situation.
Our students' voices need to be heard. We provide opportunities for students to rise up as leaders by planning school-wide events or helping younger students. It is important that our students are given the freedom to fail, the confidence to take risks, and the support needed to thrive.
The MYP is a challenging programme requiring hard work, critical thinking, collaboration skills, and an inherent joy of learning. It is an honour seeing how students can take hold of the lessons and apply this learning creatively and with an open mind to all aspects of their lives, getting to a point where they can academically challenge the adults in their lives.
In our school community. Each student is a valuable member of their class and the school, and it makes the everyday journey of learning more fruitful for all.
