Whole Preschool Activities
At BISS Preschool we often have events and regular assemblies where the whole Pre-School can meet together. This helps our children understand they are part of something bigger than themselves - our Preschool community. These events vary from monthly whole Preschool circle times to international events such as United Nations Day.
In our Preschool we feel it is important that we prepare children for everyday life. We do this by modelling and encouraging fundamental values in our early years program. These include:
- Democracy: We make decisions together, allowing children to know their views count. Children are given opportunities to develop in an environment where questions are valued.
- Rule of law: We support learning to distinguish right from wrong. We create rules and the codes of behaviour collaboratively with the children, this helps ensure that all children understand rules apply to everyone.
- Individual liberty: Children are encouraged to develop a positive sense of themselves. This allows children to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and increase their confidence in their own abilities through inquiry and independence.
- Mutual respect and tolerance: We treat others as we would want to be treated. Children are supported to have an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures.
