Body, Movement, Food and Health
At BISS Preschool, we understand that physical activity is crucial in the early years, as it lays the foundation for children's overall development and learning. We prioritise the development of both fine and gross motor skills, as these are essential for children to gain confidence in their abilities and engage fully with the world around them. By providing a variety of activities that promote movement, coordination, and strength, we help children develop the physical skills they need to explore, play, and learn with ease.
Our preschool children are encouraged to understand how their bodies move and the importance of staying active. Through engaging in activities like running, jumping, dancing, climbing, and fine motor tasks such as drawing, cutting, and building, children gain an awareness of their physical abilities and learn to enjoy being active. These experiences foster positive attitudes toward physical activity, helping children develop lifelong habits of movement that are fun, fulfilling, and good for their health.
We also focus on fostering children's growing independence when it comes to their health, hygiene, and personal care. From washing hands after play to learning how to dress themselves, children are given opportunities to practice and develop the skills needed for self-care. They begin to understand the importance of healthy habits, such as eating nutritious food, staying active, and caring for their bodies. This sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency gives children the confidence to take pride in their ability to care for themselves, building a foundation for lifelong health and well-being.
By nurturing both physical development and an understanding of health, hygiene, and personal care, we provide children with the tools they need to grow into independent, confident individuals. These early experiences contribute to their overall satisfaction in knowing they can take care of their own needs, which enhances their sense of accomplishment and well-being.
