Travelling to School
Travelling by Bus
School does not operate a school bus service.
There are bus stops close to school for students to use. All PY1 – MYP5 students, who live at least 4 km walking distance from school (2 km for PY1) may receive reimbursement by the Kommune (Local Council) for the continued cost of a child’s 30 day bus ticket.
Walking distance from school is automatically calculated by Kolumbus’s (Bus Company) own registration system, which the school office will use to register students.
Once we have completed the registration, we will inform you if your child does not qualify for reimbursement.
PLEASE NOTE - If you have changed address you must complete a new form.
As parents you have two options:
Option one - parents pay for the ticket and are later reimbursed (Privat) This option is for residents of all Kommunes
Parents can privately purchase the Children’s 30 day bus ticket from Kolumbus, at the cost of 300kr. This allows the child unlimited access to buses even after school hours.
The Kommune will issue the reimbursements twice a year.
The period January – June will be paid out in July/August at 6 x 300kr per student.
The period August – December will be paid out in January/February at 5 x 300kr per student.
The time to process reimbursements can vary and depends on the amount of families across Rogaland who have requested the reimbursement.
If you register as ‘Privat’ with us, but decide not to purchase a ticket from Kolumbus, you will still receive the reimbursements. You may choose to drive your child to school instead, and the reimbursement is meant as compensation towards any travel.
Please follow the below steps to register for reimbursement.
Step 1. Complete this form, selecting ‘Privat’.
Step 2. Purchase the Children’s 30 day ticket directly from Kolumbus using their app, their website or in person at a cost of 300 NOK. https://www.kolumbus.no/en/tickets/how-to-buy-tickets
Step 3. Receive reimbursements twice a year directly to your personal bank account.
Please note that the Kommune will not back date your reimbursement claim, meaning it will count from the day you complete the form plus a couple of working days for registration purposes.
Option two - Limited School Bus Card - This option is for Stavanger Kommune residents only
If you live in Stavanger Kommune and do not wish your child to have a monthly ticket, you may instead request a ‘Limited School Bus Card’.
This card will allow one bus journey in the morning and one in the afternoon, on school days only and will not work on weekends or school holidays.
If this is your preferred option, please follow the below steps and a bus card will be sent to you by Kolumbus once they have completed their registration.
Please note that this could take a few weeks, but the school office can make you a temporary card if requested.
Step 1. Complete this form, selecting ‘Limited School Bus Card’
Step 2. Receive a limited card from Kolumbus. (This will be delivered to the school office)
