BISS Gausel is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that is approved to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The Primary Department at BISS Gausel is for students aged 6 to 11 years old (depending on the calendar year of their birth).
There are 6 year groups that start with PYP1 and continue to PYP6. There are 2 classes in each year group and classes usually contain no more than 18 children.
The Primary Department, at BISS Gausel is a fun, vibrant and stimulating learning community. We work hard to create a very special learning experience for our primary aged students.
Our curriculum has been developed to meet the diverse needs of our students, by ensuring that learning is engaging, challenging, significant, relevant and fun. The curriculum is a combination of Phase recommendations from the IB PYP and skills from the English National curriculum.
Our curriculum is delivered in English. Students learn Norwegian as an additional foreign language and have 2 lessons a week. We are not a bilingual school nor a Norwegian school. If becoming fluent in Norwegian is important to you and your child then we encourage to local clubs and activities to help your child's fluency in Norwegian.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) students are supported in class. We also offer a programme to those students who need more individual attention. This could be one to one or in small groups.
