Admissions are now open for Academic Year 2026 - 27

Please note we do not carry forward applications from one school year to the next and you will need to reapply every year via your Classter profile, we will not send reminders for this.

All applications for a place at our schools are handled by the Admissions Department.  This is a remote office and is not situated in any of our schools. 

All communications regarding applying for a place should go to the Admissions Department as the schools will not be able to help with any queries regarding the application process.

Preschool - Classes are named EY (Early Years)

  • 2024/25 - EY1/2

BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum*

Primary School - Year groups are named PYP (Primary Years Programme)
  • Children  born in 2020 - PYP1
  • Children  born in 2019 - PYP2

School Fees

BISS Preschool

100% - 5 day  (07:30 – 16:30), 13 200kr per year (1200kr per month)

BISS Preschool Snack Programme 1650kr (150kr per month)

Preschool application fee, 1 000kr (payable on entry).

  • Preschool fees are set twice a year by Stavanger Kommune and are subject to change. Preschool fees include all school materials, but do not cover school clothing.
  • Preschool fees will be invoiced in eleven monthly instalments. Invoices are sent to parents, who have the sole responsibility for payment.
  • Children who join the school mid-year will be invoiced from the first of the month in which they join, regardless of the actual start date in the month.
  • Acceptance fee - One month's fees are charged on receipt of the acceptance form. This fee will be deducted from your first invoice. If you have accepted a place and your child does not attend, this fee is not refundable.
  • Withdrawal notice and withdrawal fee – Notice begins from the 1st of the month following submission of the withdrawal form. The withdrawal fee is equivalent to 3 months' Preschool fees at the current rate. When the leaving date is sooner than three months, the full withdrawal fee will be charged (equivalent to three months' fees). The three months' notice period includes all holiday periods.

BISS Gausel

For the calendar year 2026, 44 800kr per annum (4 073kr per month over an 11 month period)

  • School fees are set by the Governing Boards of BISS Gausel based on rates set out by the UDIR (Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training). Changes to school fees will be published on the website in December. School fees are for students' educational instruction during the regular school day, including educational supplies, exercise books and the loan of textbooks. School fees do not cover school clothing.
  • School fees will be invoiced in eleven monthly instalments. Invoices are sent to parents, who have the sole responsibility for payment.
  • Students who join the school mid-year will be invoiced from the first of the month in which they join, regardless of the actual start date in the month.

Reduced Fees due to low income

From 1st January  2026 BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum will offer a reduced parent payment option for households with low income. To check if you are eligible please email accounting@biss.no for further details. Applications for reduction of Preschool fees should be done via Stavanger kommune.

When can applications be made?

Application for reduced parent payments must be made within the following time frame:-

  • By 15th  December 2025 – valid applications received by this date will be approved for reduced payments for the period January 2025 to June 2025, taking effect for invoices from 1st January 2026 to 1st June 2026
  • By 30th June for the 26-27 school year.

 

BISS Preschool Admissions Policy

Preschool - Admissions Priority

Places are allocated as follows:

  1. To children with special needs (§13), subject to availability in the age group and the group’s composition. Priority 1
  2. To staff requesting places for their children. Priority 2
  3. To siblings of children currently attending BISS. Priority 3
  4. To children who have a Norwegian Social Security Number. Priority 4
  5. To children who have an international or bilingual family. Priority 5

If there is more than one applicant with the same priority, places will be allocated by lottery.

 

 

BISS Gausel Admissions Policy

BISS Gausel - Admissions Priority

Places are allocated as follows:

  1. Current students of BISS Gausel registering for the following academic year at BISS Gausel. Priority 1
  2. Siblings of students already enrolled at BISS Gausel. Priority 2
  3. Current students of BISS Pre-School 5. Priority 3
  4. Children of staff on permanent contracts and children of board members. Priority 4
  5. Applicants with a demonstrable interest in the IB curriculum. Priority 5
  6. Applicants from schools or pre-schools offering an international curriculum, in Norway, and abroad. Priority 6 (This includes former students of BISS Preschool, BISS Gausel, BISS Sentrum and the British International School of Stavanger)
  7. Students transferring from BISS Sentrum to BISS Gausel. Priority 7

If there is more than one applicant with the same priority, places will be allocated by lottery.

Ready to Apply?

The BISS Admissions Office handles applications for all three schools - BISS Gausel, BISS Sentrum and BISS Preschool - via the Admissions portal (click the image below). 

Step 1: Create a parent profile and login

Step 2: Verify your email address and then log in with the password provided

Step 3: Complete the application form - you need to make separate applications for each of your children and for each school

Step 4: Submit your application

Step 5: Apply for another school for the same student or to apply for another child, return to the dashboard

You can save your application and come back to make changes.  Once you have submitted the application you will not be able to make any further changes.
