The British School of Stavanger was founded in 1977 and over the years has developed into a truly international school.

The school was initially established to educate the children of the first North Sea oil workers in the area, but it quickly grew, and moved to its current premises in 1981. The school began to welcome students from many different countries.

In 2004 we changed our name to the British International School of Stavanger to reflect the international strengths of our school community and curriculum.

In 2019 we became three schools. BISS Preschool, BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum. BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum offer English-speaking Primary and Secondary Education, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme.

We are continuing to develop an international ethos for our young global citizens to Create Role Models for the Future.

There has been a British School in Stavanger since 1977, initially established to educate North Sea Oil workers coming to the area, over the years we have developed into 3 truly international schools.
