Programme
At The International Pre-school, we recognise each child's need to develop at his/her own pace. We provide a varied programme of experiences and activities designed to help each child reach his or her fullest potential.
Our well equipped learning environment is designed to maximise your child's opportunities for learning and discovery. This takes place through carefully planned activities supervised by the teacher. We also provide the child with many opportunities to experience free play and interact with his/her peers.
The curriculum that we have created for each class is in line with the new curriculum guidelines for the foundation stage published by the British Department of Education and the Norwegian Framework Plan for Nursery Schools. We take great pride in our comprehensive and fun programme for children. We focus on making school a fun place to learn.
Teaching is based on the introduction of themes which usually last over a 2 week period. Our classroom environment also provides varied activities which the children are free to select themselves.
Our programme also includes:
- arts and crafts activities
- a graded learning programme which covers concepts of size, colour, shape, number, pre-writing and pre-reading activities. All taught at each child's own individual level
- simple science activities
- weekly music and rhythm lessons with instruments
- weekly gymnastic lessons in our full-sized gymnasium
- movement and dance
- drama, dressing up and puppets
- baking and cookery
- planting seeds and bulbs
- various trips, visits and outings
At The International Pre-school, children enjoy outdoor play in our adventure playgrounds or nature walks in the beautiful wooded area surrounding the school. We never waste any nice weather in the spring and summer when we often eat our snack outside on one of the picnic tables around the school.
